The Sewing Machine Project has been embraced by so many organizations. The following are groups which have helped me tremendously. Links to their sites, if available, are included.
Hans’ Sewing and Vacuum – I began The Sewing Machine Project while working at Hans’ Sewing in Madison. Although Hans’ closed in June 2008 after 54 years of service, their support is deeply felt and remembered. My Hans’ coworkers still volunteer their time to help keep The Sewing Machine Project moving forward.
Kiwanis Club of Madison - The Madison Kiwanians have embraced this project from the beginning. They have collected donations through the Kiwanis Foundation and many of the members have made generous individual donations. Their generous spirit, kindness and continuous support have been incredibly helpful.
Rotary Clubs of Madison – I have spoken to several Rotary groups and the Rotarians have been so supportive and generous. We have received grant funding from the Madison South Rotary Club.
Bernina of America has donated several machines to The Sewing Machine Project. These beautiful new machines are being used in New Orleans school classrooms as well as in the Antigona NGO in Skenderaj, Kosovo.
Bernina International has donated the 25 machines that make up our Sewing Shares lending library. Such a generous partner!
AllBrands out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana has been incredibly generous! Donating 100 Brother machines for our Haiti initiative as well as acting as a collection site in the state of Louisiana barely scratches the surface. They have been so supportive, assisting with shipping and advice. We look forward to seeing this partnership develop further!
Nancy Zieman has been so kind. She sits on our Advisory Board of Directors and has taken such an interest in our programs. We have received national attention after she invited Margaret to appear on Sewing with Nancy.
