mending communities, one sewing machine at a time

Wish List

Organizing fabric and machinesVolunteers work on machines

The Sewing Machine Project has been blessed with so many amazing donations over the years. Many times, the donation shows up even before I have a chance to ask for it. Serendipity.

There are a few things, though, that we really need. If you can help us out that would be great.

Work/storage space in Madison, WI (preferably the East side). The dream would be an unused office space. About 2000 square feet including a large workspace, machine storage space, classroom/teaching space. Hey, why not reach for the stars? The dream would include having this space be donated (we are a 501(c)3 charitable organization).

Donated Printing Services: from time to time we need to print brochures, newsletters and business cards. If a printer were able to donate these services it would be so helpful.

Donated Accounting Services: It would be most helpful to have the assistance of an accountant for periodic review of our books and for Quickbooks training.

Shipping connections/expertise: International shipping is no easy task! We’ve been blessed so many times with connections to a group that already has a shipment going and we piggyback. Initiating our own shipments has taught us that there is still a lot to learn. We are looking for someone who is experienced in internationship exports to a variety of countries…someone who has connections to identify the best carrier and help us navigate Customs.

If you or someone you know could help us with these needs, please email Margaret Jankowski at margaret@thesewingmachineproject.org

    Margaret,
I am the person who sent you a package of patterns a couple of months ago. I am still re-organizing my sewing area and would like to send you some more things. Would you be willing to accept more patterns, thread, bobbins and notions such as snaps and hook & eyes. Your feedback is appreciated.

    Beth
